Belron, is the world's leading vehicle glass repair and replacement group. The company operates through a network of subsidiaries and franchisees such as Carglass and Autoglass® in around 34 countries on five continents. Belron’s website provides a corporate communications platform for the Group.
The design brief for Belron's corporate site called for a variety of bespoke and responsive website content which included social media integration, content positioning, swappable colour palettes, tickers, galleries, interactive timeline and dynamic maps. All of these required providing CMS editors fine grained control over a plethora of options while maintaining usability for them.
The system was designed and implemented using the company's 15 years experience with the open-source content management system TYPO3. From a development point of view, TYPO3 allows a flexibility that no other enterprise solution can match. For Belron, it is easy to learn and to use and generates considerable savings on maintenance costs and licensing fees. Most importantly, TYPO3 allows Belron to handle multiple websites from only one administrative backend.
We wanted to ensure that search robots crawled Belron's site effectively for optimal performance. As a result, we built the new website with title tags and hyperlinks in mind and through URLs best practices, HTTP status codes and canonicalisation. After that, we focused on Belron's social media presence given that both social metadata and rich snippets dramatically improve visibility.
Belron's first cross device responsive website provides a vastly improved user experience for visitors. In addition, Marketing and Communication content are seamless and efficiently delivered to users since Belron's communication team can now content manage their news and promote international group-wide events without technical support.
